Job summary
Our client is a Devon-based charity providing a wide range of support services across the region. A rewarding opportunity has arisen within the Court of Protection Team for an Appointee Finance Assistant.
This position is suitable for someone keen to help individuals who cannot manage their own benefits and finances due to lack of knowledge or capacity. Experience with the Department of Work and Pensions would be highly beneficial.
The Appointee Finance Assistant will be eligible for hybrid working after a successful three-month probation period, typically involving 2 office days and 3 home working days per week. Both full-time and part-time hours (minimum 4 days/week) are considered.

Responsibilities
* Claiming and managing entitled benefits
* Ensuring funds are used in the client’s best interest
* Budgeting for individual clients and monitoring outgoings
* Maintaining client databases and records
* Managing personal funds for clients
* Completing DWP forms and financial assessments for Local Authorities
* Liaising with clients, Local Authorities, social workers, and other professionals
* Securing personal data under GDPR
* Attending training to keep benefit knowledge current
* Performing additional duties as required
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing personal finances and budgeting. Knowledge of current benefits is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
Essential requirements:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
* Teamwork and knowledge sharing skills
* Own vehicle and willingness to travel within Devon and Cornwall (mileage paid)
Desirable requirements:
* Experience with the Department of Work and Pensions
* Experience completing financial assessments
* Knowledge of grants, schemes, reductions, and exemptions for low-income households
* Experience working with vulnerable adults
* Knowledge of current benefits and budget management
This position is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
