Title: Quality Technician II

Job Summary:
The Quality Technician II will lead advanced dimensional inspection activities using tactile (CMM) and optical (non-contact) systems, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely measurement data for production and R&D components. In addition to running inspections, this role includes developing and optimizing programs, creating inspection strategies, and mentoring junior technicians. The position requires a strong technical foundation in metrology and the ability to influence inspection best practices in a fast-paced motorsport environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute complex inspections using CMMs, structured light scanners, laser systems, and other metrology tools.
• Develop, optimize, and validate CMM and optical inspection programs from CAD models and drawings.
• Interpret complex GD&T requirements and advise engineering teams on measurement feasibility and results.
• Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances and provide data-driven input to root cause analysis.
• Train, mentor, and support junior technicians in equipment use, inspection methods, and reporting.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineers to improve inspection strategies, fixtures, and measurement workflows.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within metrology, driving advancements in accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Ensure inspection activities comply with internal QMS, and FIA technical regulations.
Required Qualifications:
• Apprenticeship, technical diploma, or equivalent with significant hands-on experience in metrology or quality inspection.
• Strong practical experience with tactile CMMs and optical systems (structured light, laser scanning, or vision).
• Proficiency with CMM or optical scanning software (e.g., Zeiss Calypso or equivalent).
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and the ability to work with complex aerospace/automotive drawings.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Motorsport, aerospace, or medical device industry experience.
• Familiarity with ERP/QMS integration (e.g., IFS).
• Experience in fixture design, process development, or inspection automation.
