Role Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineering Contracts Manager to join Charles Brand for projects in Scotland. The role holder will oversee the management of projects to ensure safe and efficient delivery, lead the team within Charles Brand values and guidelines, add value and development to the business and support the work‑winning function. Responsibilities include client engagement meetings, tracking opportunities, tender submissions and driving growth within Scotland with potential for career development and promotion.
Responsibilities
* Oversee project management and delivery to meet safety, quality and schedule objectives.
* Lead the team in accordance with Charles Brand values and guidelines.
* Engage with clients, track opportunities and support tender submissions.
* Drive business growth within Scotland and identify new project opportunities.
* Maintain strategic direction while managing detailed project challenges.
* Monitor performance, intervene as necessary, and ensure targets are achieved and exceeded.
* Support supply chain management and inter‑departmental collaboration.
* Promote compliance and high standards across the project team.
Qualifications
* A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management related subject.
* Substantial experience as a project manager within a Civil Engineering environment.
* Ideally previous experience as a Contract Manager.
* Ideally professionally qualified or working towards a professional qualification.
* Previous experience of work‑winning activities.
* Proven track record of leading large and complex Civil Engineering projects.
* Strategic direction setting with a strong awareness of detail and challenges.
* Good understanding of NEC (Various) Forms of Contract.
* Experience of leading, managing and motivating large project teams in demanding environments.
* Ability to monitor performance and intervene appropriately to ensure targets are achieved and exceeded.
* Strong understanding of supply chain management across the organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for team and client relationships.
* Capability to motivate, lead and engage diverse teams with consideration for employee development, succession and performance management.
* Ability to operate effectively and harness results through cross‑functional teams.
* Strong management skills with a focus on compliance.
* Effective communication with senior executives and external clients.
* IT literacy.
