Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our 21 bedded elderly Rehabilitation unit and palliative care on Avocet Ward. We are looking for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to join our team. You will assist in leading our dedicated team in the provision of expert patient care and rehabilitation.
All applicants should have a full NMC registration and be a registered nurse assisting in the provision of active rehabilitation within this 21 bedded inpatient environment.
Main Duties of the Job
Clinical / Professional Duties
* Develop the assessment, development, implementation and delivery of agreed standard of nursing care.
* Assist the ward manager to ensure all staff are aware of prevention and control of infection.
* Ensure agreed standard of ward cleanliness by reporting any concerns to the ward manager.
Patient / Client Care
* Work collaboratively with patients’ families, MTD and social care to ensure patients receive timely and safe discharge.
* Act as an advocate for patients and protect their rights and dignity.
* Discharge patients following the Trust’s Discharge Policy.
* Provide basic, intermediate and advanced patient care.
Additional Responsibilities
* Support the ward manager in ensuring effective and efficient day to day running of the ward, ensuring safety at all times.
* Provide all aspects of patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
* Supervise all junior staff and teach qualified and unqualified staff.
