Our Building Services team are looking for a Technical Lead to join the team on one of our Critical projects in London. The purpose of the role will be to lead and manage all electrical systems and infrastructure within the hospital, ensuring they are maintained, compliant, and operate efficiently. The Electrical Technical Manager is responsible for statutory compliance, planned maintenance, fault response, technical leadership, and overseeing electrical projects in line with healthcare regulations (e.g. HTM 06-01, HTM 06-02, and BS 7671).
As an experienced Technical Manager you will be well versed in ensuring our company adheres to legal & statutory standards and in-house policies where applicable. You will be responsible for enforcing regulations relevant to your package in all aspects as well as providing guidance on compliance matters to the engineering team(s) and in support of your Senior Manager.

What you’ll do:
* Manage the safe operation and maintenance of all electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, emergency backup systems, fire alarms, lighting, nurse call, UPS, and medical equipment interfaces.
* Act as Authorised Person (AP LV and/or HV) in accordance with HTM 06-02 and Electrical Safety Rules.
* Ensure statutory compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. Electricity at Work Regulations, HTM).
* Develop and monitor PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) schedules and ensure timely execution.
* Maintain accurate asset records and ensure compliance with SFG20, HTM standards, and NHS Estates policy.
* Ensure test certificates, schematics, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are maintained and available.
* Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Support with manage contractors and consultants delivering electrical works on capital or lifecycle projects.
* Participate in project planning, commissioning and handover processes.
* Support energy-saving and resilience projects, including infrastructure resilience (generators, UPS, power quality).
* Manage contractors, including assigning work and monitoring performance.
* Liaise with clinical and operational teams to ensure minimal disruption to patient care during works.
* Ensure staff compliance with Health and Safety, PPE, and Permit to Work procedures.
What you’ll bring to the role:
* HNC/HND or NVQ3 (or equivalent experience)
* Recognised apprenticeship or time-served background in building services
* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* Qualified / appointed Authorised Person (LV/HV) under HTM 06-02 or prepared to be trained
* Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical systems maintenance, preferably in a hospital or critical environment
* Demonstrated knowledge of HTMs, SFG20, and NHS guidance
* Experience managing PPM systems, contractors, and small works projects
