Total Salary: £573.77 per week.

Accommodation: Included.

Duration: Summer 2026.

Reports to: Activity/Excursion Manager & Centre Manager.

Job Overview

The post of an Overnight Welfare & Liaison Supervisor (OWLS) is residential and includes all meals and accommodation. A well‑organised, supervised, and implemented evening activity programme is crucial to the success of a summer school. OWLSs plan, organise and promote evening activities, encouraging students to participate so they get the full benefit from their stay.

OWLS carry out tasks regarding the welfare, administration, safety and security of students in residential accommodation after the evening activities until 3 a.m. They promote, organise and run evening activities and events under the guidance of the Activity and Excursion Manager, and may supervise other staff.

OWLS work a six‑day week and receive one full day off per week. Duties include, but are not exclusive to, the following: planning and leading evening activities and excursions, welfare and supervision duties, welcoming and transfer duties when they happen during the evenings. Flexibility and willingness to undertake any task as directed are required.

Applicants must provide contact details of three referees who can verify suitability for the post and suitability to work with those aged under 18.

All staff undergo a paid induction (£12.71/hour). Attendance at the induction is an essential part of employment.


Other Important Information

* You may be required to work in excess of 48 hours per week. Evening and weekend work will be required.
* All staff accrue pro‑rata paid holiday during their period of employment.
* Holiday pay in lieu of untaken holiday is paid at the end of the contract.
* Company t‑shirts, lanyards and ID badges are provided and must be worn at all times whilst on duty.
* Staff do not receive any overtime payment unless this is expressly agreed with the Managing Director.
* All staff must be employees of St Andrew’s College Language Schools.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Read and understand the staff handbook and be fully conversant with policies for welfare and protection of children.
* Preparation for evening activity sessions, including planning, promoting, hazard assessment, and equipment set‑up.
* Encourage the involvement of students and lead by example.
* Promote events effectively and ensure student sign‑ups in advance.
* Manage materials and equipment, ensuring they are returned after each activity.
* Maintain attendance registers and liaise with Group Leaders for those not present at evening activities.
* Provide feedback on the programme to the Activity/Excursion Manager.
* Provide general care and welfare for all students, especially younger ones.
* Assist with airport transfers for student arrivals and departures in the evening.
* Assist with centre administration and other general tasks.
* Assist in closing the centre and returning equipment.
* Participate in the Staff Induction Day (paid).
* Implement and monitor Health & Safety policies.
* Manage lights‑out duties and liaise with other staff on pastoral care until 3 a.m.
* Help students adjust to life in the UK, including safety, law, culture, values and campus rules.
* Assist in the organisation and participation in student orientation and induction.
* Ensure Group Leaders supervise effectively by conducting patrols at night.
* Assist with supervision during free time.
* Assist with pre‑arrival and departure checks and damage surveys if carried out in the evenings.
* Help build community spirit via notice boards, rules and competitions.
* Maintain student discipline in residences and liaise with the Campus Management Team and Group Leaders; report all damages to the Centre Manager immediately.
* Assist the Campus Management Team in keeping notice boards up to date with accurate information.
* Perform additional duties as required.


Disclosure Checks

* Scotland: PVG (£18 – £59).
* England: Enhanced DBS (£0 – £74).
* US: Criminal background check.
* Ireland: Garda Vetting check.

Disclosure checks are payable by the employee and will be deducted from the salary. The procedure usually takes 14 days but can take up to a maximum of 18 weeks.

All vetting/background/disclosure checks must be completed before starting work with us.


Salary and Benefits
