Applications are invited for the post of ‘BCN/BAPRAS Breast and Lymphoedema Microsurgery Fellow’ to join a dynamic team of specialist plastic surgeons, delivering high quality breast reconstruction and lymphoedema care in South Wales.
We are looking for candidates who will help deliver high-quality breast reconstruction and lymphoedema surgery services. The post is unique in that it aims to not only provide post FRCS Plast (or equivalent) specialist training and experience in breast reconstruction but also in lymphatic surgery, in preparation for an NHS consultant post.
The anticipated interview date will be 2/3rd week in September with a view to starting in January/March 2026
Main duties of the job
This fellowship will provide training in the surgical management of lymphoedema. This will be via lymphoedema MDT and clinics, weekly ICG scanning and LVA lists, involvement in cases combining DIEP flap reconstructions with vascularised lymph node transfers as well as high volume liposuction. The fellow will gain a comprehensive understanding of lymphoedema management, selection criteria for surgery and pre and postoperative non-surgical management, in collaboration with Lymphoedema Network Wales, to optimise outcomes. here may be potential for the fellow to participate in other microsurgical cases when available according to learning needs.

Essential criteria
1. •Full GMC registration
2. •MBBS, FRCS (Plast) or equivalent
3. •Minimum of 7 years postgraduate experience including 5 years as plastics registrar/trainee level in an approved training post, or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
4. •Higher professional qualifications (e.g. MD or PhD)
5. •Breast reconstruction and/or lymphoedema experience
6. •Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals.
