Job Description:
Job Purpose
To inspect, service, maintain and repair Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and associated trailers to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal and company standards.
Salary depends on experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
* Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
* Conduct vehicle inspections in line with DVSA standards.
* Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
* Complete all job cards, service sheets, and compliance documentation accurately.
* Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
* Respond to breakdowns (workshop and roadside if required).
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Adhere to health & safety policies and workshop procedures.
* Work efficiently to meet deadlines and operational requirements.
Skills & Experience Required;
Essential:
* Proven experience as an HGV Fitter/Technician.
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
* Knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, suspension, and electrics.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good understanding of DVSA regulations.
* Full UK driving licence (Class 1 or 2 desirable).
Desirable:
* Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent).
* IRTEC accreditation.
* Tachograph and LOLER inspection knowledge.
* Welding/fabrication experience.

Working Conditions
* Workshop-based with occasional roadside call-outs.
