ScotPHN Team Manager

About the Organisation:
Public Health Scotland launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. Public Health Scotland wants to see a Scotland where everybody thrives, a Scotland where life expectancy improves and the difference in life expectancy between our poorest and wealthiest areas gets smaller.

The Post:
The launch of the Population Health Framework makes this an exciting time to work in public health in Scotland. This post will support the public health leadership, local-national collaboration and cross-sectoral working necessary to implement the new framework.

With an emphasis on action that will make a difference, you will lead a team who support:

1. National public health leadership groups including the Directors of Public Health.
2. Cross-sectoral collaboration through Public Health Action Teams.
3. Effective collaboration between national and local public health.

The Candidate:
You will be passionate about collaboration and working with others to make a difference. You will be a proactive strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, make connections across different areas of work and drive forward collaboration across multiple public health topics.

You will have:

4. Extensive experience in providing support to senior leadership groups in the delivery of complex and broad-ranging policy.
5. Well-developed skills in collaboration and engagement, particularly within a public sector context.
6. A sound understanding of public health and health inequalities.
7. Outstanding interpersonal and written communication.
8. Skills in assimilating complex information, summarising key issues and presenting information in an effective format to a range of different audiences.
9. Excellent organisational skills including effective work planning for self and others.

Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home. Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025.

Working pattern is Monday to Friday 37 hours per week.

PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
