Are you a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support children with special educational needs in a nurturing school environment?
GSL Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sunderland. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in SEN support, care, youth work, or those passionate about making a meaningful difference in young people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN TA:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs.
* Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and engaging learning activities.
* Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and independence.
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and follow behaviour support strategies.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
* Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children with SEN or in a similar support role.
* A calm, patient, and proactive approach.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, or other additional needs (desirable).
* A genuine passion for supporting young learners.
* An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education
