Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering
Join the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. This teaching and research role invites an individual to build an independent research program in Electrical Engineering while delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Systems and Control and related disciplines. The position offers opportunities to design learning activities, supervise HDR students, and publish high‑quality research as part of a team or independently.
The Opportunity
The role requires developing teaching, research, and industry engagement strategies. You will conduct classes, lead curriculum development, and contribute to the School’s vibrant research culture focused on energy systems, communications, robotics, and emerging technologies.
Salary & Position Details
* Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Senior Lecturer (Level C) – AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation
* Full time
* Fixed term – 2‑year convertible tenure track (potential transition to continuing appointment, subject to performance)
* Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills and Experience
Lecturer (Level B)
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Systems and Control, with relevant work experience.
* Commitment to advancing discipline knowledge and staying current with developments.
* Teaching and learning design experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
* Knowledge or experience of industry or work‑integrated learning (desirable).
* Commitment to supporting diverse students and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Strong research track record with high‑quality, high‑impact outcomes.
* Involvement with the profession and/or industry.

Senior Lecturer (Level C)
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Systems and Control, with relevant work experience.

* Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and enthusiasm for fostering excellence in others.
* Successful curriculum development and improvement initiatives.
* Experience and evidence of industry or work‑integrated learning.
* Evidence of support for diverse students and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Strong research track record and demonstrated capacity for research leadership.
* Experience in recruiting and supervising high‑calibre students.
* Teamwork, collaboration, and relationship building across disciplines.
* Industry engagement and ability to attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* Alignment with UNSW aims, values, policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to training.
