Overview
Dorset All Age Eating Disorders Service (DAEDS) - 10-bed inpatient unit. We are looking to recruit compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMHN's) to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering treatment and care to adults with eating disorders.
Responsibilities
* You will support the Service and Ward Manager to deliver the best available evidence based treatment, including nasogastric tube feeding.
* Contribute to the holistic treatment and care of patients, assisting their recovery and maintaining clear, accurate written records.
* Be aware of the special requirements of working with this client group in the areas of understanding, boundaries and consistency.
* Act as a clinical supervisor to band 3’s and 4’s within the team.
* Assist in the inductions of staff and students. Undertake mentor/preceptor/NVQ assessors training.
* Contribute to health, safety, and security of individuals and their environment and evaluate the risk of harm, abuse and failure to protect.
* Support shift leadership as nurse in charge when required.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered Mental Health Nurse with NMC registration or nearing qualification.
* Experience of caring for people with eating disorders in a mental health setting is desirable; empathy towards those with an eating disorder is essential.
* Willingness to provide 24/7 inpatient cover and work across the inpatient unit; may be required to support across the day service.
* We are currently unable to accept applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
Working conditions
The inpatient unit is open 24/7, 365 days a year and employs a shift system that supports delivery of treatment and care around the clock.
Development and support
We are committed to supporting and facilitating development via training opportunities, an annual appraisal and clinical supervision. Preceptorship will be offered for those newly qualified.
