We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Hearings Manager to join our Hearings team, to oversee the quality of adjudication and support decision drafting at GDC hearing events, as well as provide strong leadership and strategic direction across the team. The position is ideal for a dynamic manager, passionate about working in a Tribunal/Hearings setting, looking for the flexibility of part-time work. The Dental Professionals Hearings Service (the Hearings Service), conducts hearings for cases investigated and brought by the General Dental Council (GDC). Cases are adjudicated by independent committees consisting of lay and dental professional panellists. The Hearings Service is administratively separated from the GDC. Hearings are formal adjudication proceedings. Decisions made at hearings can have serious consequences for the dental professionals and can be difficult and stressful for all those involved. Cases often include patients, witnesses and legal representatives. About the Role: To provide strong leadership and strategic direction across the team, ensuring the team is aware of and working towards the corporate vision. Direct line management of senior officers involved in operational delivery in hearings, including performance management. To manage the induction, development and support of committee panellists. Actively engage and liaise with approximately 160 Fitness to Practice panel members. Identify, design and deliver training needs for all relevant stakeholders, which include Fitness to Practice Panellists, new Chair and Chair Refresher training and development of overall annual training programmes. Develop an overall training plan for the Fitness to Practice panel that meets Appointments Committee approval, and to assist with development of individual panellists. Be responsible for ensuring planned hearing activity is properly resourced at all times and is increasingly aligned and integrated with the business's CRM processes. About you: The successful candidate will have: Effective planning, organising and management skills, especially adapting to change. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Strong stakeholder management skills, ideally gained in a Tribunal setting. Excellent interpersonal skills, in order to develop effective working relationships with a diverse set of colleagues, panellists and other stakeholders. Experience of maintaining robust quality assurance measures within complex statutory frameworks. Ability to design, develop and deliver effective training/presentations to key stakeholders.
