Job Description:
I am currently working with a leading M&E contractor operating within the building services sector, providing mechanical and electrical engineering solutions across various industries. The business has an annual turnover of over £200 million, with project values averaging over £30 million, while maintaining core family values. The company operates in diverse markets including high-end, mid-level residential, commercial fitouts, data centres, offsite modular engineering, and the growing life sciences sector.
Health and Safety Manager Opportunity:
Our client seeks a proactive and confident Health and Safety Manager to join their expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to ensure compliance and foster a strong safety culture across a varied project portfolio. You will manage your schedule, balancing site visits and office work, with flexibility to choose your base between two London offices. Currently managing 16 live projects, typically 2-3 site visits per month, you will oversee 4-5 projects depending on scope and location, providing hands-on support while maintaining autonomy.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Support HSQE projects and documentation, including Safety and Health Plans at Preliminary and Construction stages
* Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation, staying updated on legislative changes and standards
* Review safety documentation from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
* Conduct site inspections and produce reports
* Assist with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and related documentation
* Prepare and deliver site toolbox talks
* Report regularly to management, project teams, and clients
* Investigate incidents/accidents and prepare reports
* Provide HSQE advice and liaise with site personnel
* Compile Safety Files and O&M Manuals
* Hold a recognised HSQE qualification (minimum NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction or IOSH)
* Have at least 4 years of HSQE experience in construction
* Demonstrate excellent communication, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
