We're working closely with a school in the East Midlands seeking an Interim Resource Base Leader to deliver outstanding teaching within a specialist SEND resource base.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining high‑quality classroom practice with day‑to‑day responsibility for the unit. You'll help shape provision for pupils with complex needs, lead on teaching and learning, line‑manage Inclusion Support Practitioners, and play a key role within the senior leadership team. You'll also benefit from being part of a wider network of unit leaders.
This opportunity would suit someone with a strong understanding of SEND and communication needs, along with experience across EYFS and Key Stages 1-2. It could be a great step for a teacher looking to grow into leadership and work towards the NASENCo qualification, if not already held.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high‑quality, differentiated teaching for pupils with high levels of SEND
* Facilitate play‑based and communication‑led learning in line with an EYFS ethos
* Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership of the resource base while remaining classroom‑based
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to support safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion
* Contribute to a reflective, positive culture focused on best practice and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Primary teaching experience, ideally within EYFS or KS1
* Strong experience supporting children with ASD, sensory needs, and complex SEND
* Confidence using continuous provision approaches and communication‑focused practice
* Experience within a resource base, specialist provision, or SEND unit
* Previous middle leadership exposure, such as phase lead or inclusion responsibilities
* NASENCo qualification, or willingness to work towards it
