Personal assistant for a disabled child

Overview

Personal assistant required for an autistic ten‑year‑old boy living in Camborne. The candidate will build a positive and trusting relationship and provide 1:1 support. Initially in the family home, later in the community on fun days out.

Responsibilities

• Support daily activities and improve communication.
• Ensure safety at home and in the community.
• Provide constant supervision and care.
• Engage in play activities such as swimming, running, climbing and trampolining.

Qualifications

• Knowledge or personal experience working with young people with special educational needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Will undergo an enhanced DBS check (administered by Cornwall Council).

Working arrangements

Pay starts at £13.50 per hour, with potential increase based on skills and experience. Four hours per week, flexible schedule, including some weekend and school holiday availability. Employment is via a private arrangement with the family, not with Cornwall Council.
