Business Analyst (Web-Based Software / Making Tax Digital)
Hybrid/Remote - Occasional travel to Leamington Spa
Full-time | Permanent
We’re working with a fast-growing software business looking for a Business Analyst who can bridge the gap between legislative complexity and intuitive digital products. If you’ve got experience translating rules and requirements into meaningful, enterprise-ready web applications we'd like to hear from you.
What’s the role?
You’ll play a key role in shaping the evolution of a web-based platform designed to help users stay compliant with the UK’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation, particularly around Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA).
Your job is to connect the dots between HMRC’s requirements, user needs, and the development team’s capabilities. You’ll work closely with engineers and designers to define features, write clear documentation, and keep delivery on track.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
* Translating legislation and user problems into functional specifications
* Working with developers to shape solution design and delivery plans
* Defining epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
* Facilitating workshops and gathering feedback from stakeholders
* Supporting backlog grooming and sprint planning
* Collaborating with testers to ensure what gets built actually works
* Supporting go-live prep, user training and documentation as needed
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has strong experience as a Business Analyst in a software/product-led environment
* Understands Making Tax Digital (MTD), ideally Income Tax Self Assessment
* Has experience working on web-based applications
* Is comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Can simplify the complex, both in writing and in conversation
* Is UK-based and eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
* Experience working with accounting or tax products
* Understanding of agile delivery practices
* Familiarity with HMRC APIs or tax-related data models
