This is an exciting time to join Sandwell MBC Adult Social Care. We are currently restructuring our community social work teams to create town teams and a separate YAT/Transitions Team for Sandwell adults.
Your new role
Sandwell are looking to recruit an additional x 2 full-time (37 hrs) agency Social Workers into their YAT/Transitions Team to help bring it to full capacity until permanent staff are recruited to the team.
Sandwell are looking for committed and hardworking qualified Social Workers with high professional standards and sound knowledge and experience of current legislation including the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Community DOLS/LPS.
You will be expected to work with vulnerable adults with Learning Disabilities/Autism and also have some knowledge of physical disabilities, people with profound & complex needs, carers and the wider community. You will need to be confident in undertaking safeguarding investigations, mental capacity assessments, best interest decisions, carrying out outcome-focused assessments, with support planning, to meet their care and support needs.
You must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals and with our partner agencies to deliver the best outcomes for our customers who have a learning disability/Autism.
You will be given an induction, appropriate training opportunities and regular supervision by an experienced manager. You will be working in a friendly environment, with a skilled, diverse and supportive team.
What you'll need to succeed
Have a recognised professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/B.Sc. in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or CQSW)
Social Work England registration
2 years post-qualifying permanent experience
Previous experience working within Social Work adults services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
