We're working with welcoming, inclusive schools in Stevenage looking for SLCN Support Assistants to join their teams. In this role, you\'ll help children with Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) gain confidence, develop their communication skills, and thrive in school.
Responsibilities
* Supporting children with SLCN both in class and in small-group or 1:1 sessions
* Helping implement individual support plans (you\'ll be guided every step of the way)
* Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and speech therapists
* Encouraging and motivating students to express themselves and participate fully in school life
* Monitoring progress and celebrating small victories every day
Qualifications
* Experience with SEN or communication needs (formal or informal - we value all relevant backgrounds)
* A positive, patient, and proactive approach to working with children
* Ability to build trust and strong relationships with students
* Great communication and teamwork skills
* A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
* A background in Speech and Language Therapy, Education, Psychology, or similar
* Additional training in communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, Attention Autism)
* Experience supporting children with ASD, developmental delay, or language difficulties
