Job overview
The post holder will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Department.
The department was purpose built during 2007 in a PFI, with excellent facilities for outpatient clinics and minor operations under LA, overlooking the Wiltshire countryside. The Maxillofacial laboratory, Medical Photography, Laser Unit, Speech and Language, and the Cleft offices are all nearby.
There are 8 surgeries, including two for orthodontic and restorative dentistry, immediate access to a CBCT scanner, and intraoral digital scanners. Two minor operations theatres are available for Plastics and OMFS.
Main duties of the job
The Trust collaborates with the Regional Major Trauma Centre at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) to provide OMFS services for the Wessex Trauma Network. This role involves trauma on-call duties, currently 1:7 weekends. Salisbury is a diagnostic centre for Head and Neck Cancer, with patients transferred to UHS for intraoral resection, free flap reconstruction, and radiotherapy. Attendance at clinics at UHS may be required.
The post holder will manage general OMFS cases and may have special interest in skin, orthognathic, or salivary gland surgery.

Person specification
* Full GMC/GDC registration
* Entry on the GMC/GDC Specialist Register via CCT or proposed CCT within 6 months
* ALS and ATLS certification
* Specialist knowledge of oral diseases, OMFS surgery, and trauma management
* Interest in teaching and supervising juniors
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
* Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and QI projects
* Mandatory training compliance
* Research participation and peer-reviewed publications
* Management course or experience
