Job Description:
CPL UK Healthcare (formerly RIG Locums) is seeking a CAMHS Consultant for an NHS role in Colchester, Essex. The role offers negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic and compassionate doctor interested in a balanced challenge and flexibility. You will work alongside experienced clinicians supporting your career development.
The team cares for young people aged 13 to 18, with a 15-bed Generic Adolescent Unit and a 10-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. You will work across both wards with up to 5 patients each, as part of an MDT including other consultants, specialty doctors, and trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage up to 10 young people across PICU and GAU wards, including screening referrals, assessments, and participating in case meetings with the East of England team. Collaborate with community teams, particularly NELFT trust in Essex, to manage transitions.
* Assess and treat all admitted young people with complex, high-risk presentations, requiring AC approval.
* Conduct medication reviews, mental state assessments, ward reviews, CPA meetings, and prepare reports. Attend MHRT hearings as needed. Supervise trainee doctors involved in patient care.
* Participate in team and governance meetings, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
* Support colleagues during absences and be part of the local peer group.
