Overview

NOT JUST A PLACE OF WORK The team at Aycliffe Secure Centre provide a caring, therapeutic and motivational environment for young people aged between 10 and 18 who are a risk to themselves or others. Our young people have faced difficulties such as neglect, trauma and some have been involved with the Youth Custody Service. NOT JUST A JOB: Joining us as a Waking Nights Manager at Aycliffe Secure Centre is one of the most rewarding career development choices you could make as you will be key to the delivery of 24-hour care for our young people. The role is challenging both physically and mentally but is extremely rewarding when you get to witness first-hand the positive impact you can make to a young person’s life just by giving your care, compassion and time. You will be that person providing effective leadership to the dedicated waking night care staff across the Centre as well as being responsible for the personal security and safety of our young people. In this role you will have the opportunity to:


Responsibilities

* Motivate and develop an effective waking night care team
* Improve the quality of service throughout the Centre
* Set outstanding standards of practice outlined within the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Care Standards 2015


Qualifications / Requirements

* Level 5 management qualification
* Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour
* Experience of being a trauma-informed practitioner
* Resilient
* Empathetic
* Passionate about working with young people


Shift Pattern and Working Arrangements

NOT A NORMAL 9 to 5: Our young people are cared for 24/7. As a Waking Night Manager you will work shift patterns which cover the hours of 9.30pm to 7.45am on weeknights (Sunday to Thursday) and 9.30pm to 8.30am on weekends (Friday and Saturday) with some requirement to complete day shifts in order to support the function of the management team.


Training and Development

NOT JUST TRAINING: Your role will start with a four-week induction programme which includes a range of formal and informal learning opportunities so you can carry out your role safely and effectively. The first six months in the role will include specific on-the-job training and development to enable you to deliver the role with confidence. There are also ongoing training and development opportunities as well as dedicated one-to-one time to reflect upon workplace practice.
