We invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow post at the Lancashire Women's and Newborns Level 3 Neonatal Unit (Burnley General Hospital). We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate. This position offers an excellent opportunity for doctors training in paediatrics/neonatology to gain broad experience in neonatal critical care at a Level 3 neonatal unit.
This is a 1 WTE, 12-month post, starting in August/September.
The successful applicant will join our team of Consultants, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Fellows, Deanery Trainees, and Allied Health Professionals.
Main duties of the job
Duties will be in the neonatal department on the Tier 2 rota, involving a mix of long day/night shifts and shorter day shifts. Responsibilities include Intensive/High Dependency Care, Special and Transitional Care, and post-natal ward care.
The role involves collaboration with resident trainees (ST3-8) and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, with supervision and education provided by Consultants.
The candidate will be responsible for clinical care, notes recording (including Badger), communication with families and colleagues, and other resident doctor duties in the department.

Job responsibilities
- Attend to neonates admitted to the Neonates Unit.
- Conduct ward rounds.
- Assist and supervise Tier 1 doctors in managing NICU cases.
- Out-of-hours on-call duties for neonatal emergencies.
- Attend deliveries of premature and high-risk neonates, providing immediate and ongoing care.
- Communicate with parents.
- Supervise outpatient duties.
- Cover for colleague sickness.
Person Specification
* Full GMC registration
* MRCPCH-Part 1
* At least 6 months experience in a Level 3 Neonatal unit
* Competence in neonatal intubations, umbilical and long line insertions
* NLS provider certificate
* Experience in teaching and audits
* Research involvement
* Effective communication skills
* Supervisory ability
* Teamwork and self-awareness
* Willingness to travel
Additional preferred qualifications include a teaching certificate, GCP certification, and successful audit presentation.
