About Your Role and the Team
Working as a Graduate Project Manager or Quantity Surveyor in our PMCM teams means you will work on exciting and innovative projects across the UK and around the world. Our team of 450 people is based across all major UK regions. We work as partners to our clients from feasibility through to construction, delivering complex civil infrastructure, rail, buildings and programme solutions.

PMCM – Civils Infrastructure & Utilities
As a Graduate Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of complex civil infrastructure and utilities projects. Day-to-day activities include:
* Project support and coordination
* Planning, scheduling and monitoring project progress, identifying risks and assisting in developing mitigation strategies
* Preparing project documentation, reports and presentations
* Supporting client meetings and communication between internal teams, clients and external stakeholders
* Financial monitoring and reporting – ensuring projects stay within budget and flagging variances
* Assisting with contract management under NEC or bespoke agreements
* Interpreting and applying contract terms in real scenarios
* Ensuring project activities align with WSP’s quality management systems and promoting health, safety and sustainability across all phases
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial and financial management of construction and infrastructure projects across transport, water and defence. Day-to-day activities include:
* Preparing initial cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
* Supporting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises
* Drafting tender documents and evaluating contractor bids
* Monitoring contract variations and ensuring accurate documentation
* Assisting with payment applications, interim valuations and cost reporting
* Measuring quantities on-site or from drawings, tracking project costs, forecasting final account values and identifying cost‑saving opportunities
* Providing commercial advice and updates on project financials
* Attending meetings with clients and contractors
* Maintaining accurate records of project changes and commercial decisions
PMCM – Rail
As a Graduate Project Manager you will assist in the delivery of complex rail projects of regional, national and international significance. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing detailed project plans: timelines, budgets, resource allocation and risk management
* Monitoring project progress, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions
* Assisting in managing project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking and reporting
* Reviewing project expenditures and invoices
* Managing changes and delays – ensuring issues are resolved or mitigated
* Dealing with RFIs, early warnings and general communications to reduce project risk
As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor you will support the commercial and financial management of these rail projects. Key tasks include:
* Preparing initial cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
* Supporting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises
* Contributing to procurement strategy and contract selection
* Supporting the management of payment applications and interim valuations
* Measuring quantities on-site or from drawings, tracking progress and preparing cost reports
* Identifying risks and opportunities to improve cost efficiency
* Compiling monthly cost reports, profit/loss summaries and financial dashboards
PMCM – Buildings
In the Buildings team you will work on a variety of property and buildings projects, ranging from local authorities to commercial developments. Day-to-day activities include:
* Planning of projects
* Monitoring project progress against the schedule
* Managing risks
* Supporting engagement with stakeholders
* Developing cost estimates and tracking costs
* Supporting contract management
PMCM – Programme Solutions
Be part of WSP’s Project Controls team, delivering projects that transform cities, infrastructure and communities. As a Graduate you will:
* Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules using industry‑standard tools
* Support document control processes, ensuring accuracy and version management
* Prepare performance reports (cost, schedule, KPIs) for project and client teams
* Contribute to the development of dashboards and analytics for project controls
* Work closely with delivery teams to ensure data‑driven decision making
Graduate Development Programme
The two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional development and growth through an engaging blended learning experience. The programme includes core business and professional skills training, career development workshops, mentoring for professional registration and a breadth of on‑the‑job experience. You will have full support through enrolment in a professional institution’s training agreement, guiding you towards chartered or incorporated status with ICE, APM or RICS.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* You have graduated with at least a 2:1 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject for the role you are applying for.
* You have completed the application form and the online skill enabler assessment – both are mandatory parts of the early career recruitment process.
* You will be starting work in either April or September 2026.
* You have a passion for project management or surveying.
* You have a desire for the built environment, infrastructure, places and the economy.
* You will be able to engage with clients, stakeholders and other colleagues professionally.
