About the role You will be responsible for maintaining the Society's key accounting policies, processes and judgements, supporting in the interpretation of accounting standards. This includes responsibility for the accounting treatment applied to the Society's securitisation and Covered Bond programmes. You will be a technical accounting subject matter expert, keeping abreast of industry developments and best practice. You will: Maintain key accounting policies, processes and judgements, including researching and understanding accounting standards and industry developments, and proposed application of theory to the Society Oversee and review month end processes for the Society's securitisation and Covered Bond programmes Oversee and review the annual statutory accounts for the Society's SPV's and for other related entities. Produce and update technical accounting papers to provide to external auditors reflecting key accounting judgements Draft narrative sections, prepare notes and support for the Society's Annual Report & Accounts and Interim Financial Report Support with the hedge accounting process, documentation and monthly reporting to ALCO Review current procedures to identify process improvements and efficiencies. What will you bring to the role? We're looking for someone who can demonstrate: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIMA) Experience of accounting for Special Purpose Vehicles Ideally with experience of accounting for Treasury instruments, including hedge accounting Able to interpret complex technical requirements and apply these to the Society Highly numerate with good analytical and Microsoft Excel skills Strong communicator in speech and in writing Able to build work relationships internally and externally and work constructively with others to reach solutions on complex issues Willing to embrace and implement change Why choose Leeds Building Society?
