Role: EHS Specialist Location: Prestwick – Glasgow - onsite Role Type: 12 months Salary: Depending on Experience Role Overview: Our globally renowned aerospace client is seeking an EHS Specialist, who will strengthen the existing Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) function in response to the continued growth of the client’s activitiesin the UK. The role is primarilybased at the AIC Prestwicksite, providing hands-onEHS support to management and employees to achieve and sustain high standards of safety, environmental performance, and regulatory compliance. The positionwill also support other regional sites as required. Key Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day EHS guidance and practical supportto site leadership and employees. Ensure full alignmentwith the client’senterprise EHS requirements while maintaining compliance with UK and regional legislation. Prepare and maintainEHS compliance reports,permits, and regulatory submissions, acting as the primary EHS point of contact with regulatory bodies. Conduct risk assessments, EHS inspections, audits,and incident investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Support new businessactivities and facilities projects by assessingworkplace hazards and advising on EHS compliance requirements. Deliver EHS training,inductions, and awareness programmes to meet both regulatory and business needs. Review contractor, supplier,and vendor activities to ensure adherenceto EHS standards. Support emergency preparedness planning, environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and health surveillance programmes. Work collaboratively with the wider regional EHS team, includingtravel to othersites when required. Prestwick Context : The Prestwick facility will operate as a fully integrated to the client’s site following acquisition. The workforce includes office-based staff alongside operational and warehouse personnel engagedin activities such as machining, R&D, laboratory work,goods handling, crane and forklift operations. While no immediate safety risks have been identified, there is a recognised compliance gap against UK legislation and the cleint’s EHS standards, requiring dedicated on-site EHS support for an initial 6–12 month period. Key Improvement Focus Areas: Replacement of existinggeneric risk assessments with client-compliant activity- and task-specific assessments and Safe Working Instructions. Implementationof a comprehensive chemical management system, including COSHH,REACH compliance, procurement controls, PPE programmes, and training. Review and enhancement of safety programmes for machining, liftingoperations, and powered industrial trucks. Development of emergencypreparedness arrangements, EHS training plans,and health surveillance programmes. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Level 3 qualification in Health & Safety or Environmental Management. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or mechanical maintenance environment is desirable. This role plays a critical part in ensuringregulatory compliance, embedding the client’s EHS standards, and supporting the safe and effective integration of the Prestwick AIC facility.
