SRM is preparing for the commencement of a major programme of construction works in Port Talbot, South Wales. The works will involve heavy construction and civil engineering across various industrial work fronts over the next 3 to 4 years, starting with enabling works before the main programme begins in Q3 2025.
If you are a Package Manager with experience in large, multi-disciplinary projects worth millions of pounds, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join our team in Port Talbot. The Package Manager Role
As a key member of the project team reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will oversee the design, coordination, and management of various subcontractors across different trades within your area of responsibility.
This role requires extensive interfacing with internal departments and external agencies, including Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors, Client agents, Clerk of Works, and Site Staff. Managing and coordinating works contractors will be crucial, as the project will be delivered under a Construction Management contract (NEC 4). You will ensure SRM obligations to the client and contractors are understood and fulfilled according to contract conditions.
You will also organize and lead weekly site progress meetings with contractors to monitor logistics, programme, progress, quality, and safety, keeping the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Director informed of all issues.
Your Profile
Key focus areas include:
* Structure (RC Frame) and Envelop
Ideally, you will have a degree in civil engineering, heavy construction, construction management, or a related field.
* Must be a team player
* Hands-on with a “can-do attitude”
* Site-based, as a core project team member
* IT proficiency is essential
* Ability to prepare a 3-week look-ahead programme with the help of a project planner
* Proven experience in package management
* Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator is advantageous
* Knowledgeable about building products, construction details, and relevant regulations and standards
* Working towards a professional membership (e.g., ICE, CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, IStructE)
* Ideally based in South Wales within daily travel distance of Port Talbot
