About the role
The Department of History at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Modern History with specialist knowledge of the history of Africa and European empires in the twentieth century. The role holder must hold a PhD (or equivalent professional qualification) in the relevant subject area and have teaching experience at undergraduate level in Modern and/or Contemporary History.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and lead modules in Modern History, including the second-year undergraduate module HIST2051: "Villains or Victims? White Women and the British Empire" and the third-year module HIST3038: "Philosophies of the Revolution: Anti-Imperialism and British Decolonization in the Twentieth Century", and support teaching across the degree programme.
* Supervise and examine undergraduate dissertations and postgraduate students as required.
* Teach seminar groups, fostering students' knowledge and learning skills.
* Provide pastoral support to students.
* Contribute positively and proactively to the Department's teaching culture.
Qualifications
* PhD awarded (or to be awarded by appointment) in Modern History or equivalent professional qualification.
* Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate level in Modern and/or Contemporary History.
* Strong knowledge of the history of Africa and European empires in the twentieth century.
