Overview
Probation Service Officer role within the Yorkshire and Humber Housing Support Services team. The role supports men in prison and community settings to secure and maintain suitable accommodation, working closely with probation practitioners, prison staff and local housing providers.
Responsibilities
* Support a caseload of men in prison and under community supervision, helping them identify and apply to viable housing options.
* Attend assessment appointments, support tenancy‐ready status, and facilitate move‑in to new accommodation.
* Provide initial tenancy support and make onward referrals to additional services where required.
* Coordinate with Probation Practitioners and other agencies to update on progress and identify partnership opportunities.
* Maintain accurate records in computer‑based systems and produce reports within agreed timescales.
* Contribute to the delivery of the Risk Management plan and report changes related to risk of harm or re‑offending.
* Attend prison, home or alternate location visits as required and complete appropriate court setting reports.
* Adhere to safeguarding, alcohol and drug testing, and medication procedures.
* Promote pro‑social behaviour and challenge anti‑social attitudes through consistent reinforcement.
Qualifications
* Experience in probation, prison, or community support services.
* Strong communication, relationship building and adaptability skills.
* Ability to work one‑to‑one and in group settings with offenders and external stakeholders.
* Knowledge of local authority housing services and housing provider referrals.
* Capacity to work flexible hours, including occasional out of hours.
