The below list defines the common additional duties required of a supervisor.

Further duties may be required and some of those listed below may not be required, this will depend on the site and client's needs. Confirmation of the exact duties required of you will be supplied by the management on site.

Safety:

➢ Ensure that a suitable and sufficient and relevant risk assessment has been carried out, recorded and accurately communicated to all employees involved with each task. This risk assessment must identify all the hazards associated with the task. All hazards must be assessed and suitable controls implemented to reduce the risk as low as reasonably practicable.

➢ Ensure the operatives under your control fully participated in the completion of the Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA); Ensure this document is completed prior to the commencement of work and reviewed should there be any significant change at the workface.

➢ Implement all, safety procedures required for the task, for example Rescue Plan, Permit to Work, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, POWRA.

➢ Continually monitor the task and make sure safety and hazard awareness is at the highest level, regularly liaise with your site management to report any perceived shortcomings and suggested improvements.

➢ Ensure all new personnel are teamed with experienced site personnel throughout their trial period, this will remain the case until YOU are satisfied that they are aware of JMAC procedures and hazards particular to their place of work.

➢ Carry out safety instruction / toolbox talks as and when required, and follow up on employees understanding.

➢ Ensure you and your team understand and comply with all safety procedures / instructions applicable. Work with your team to identify hazards as a team and remove/avoid the hazards before they have the chance to cause any harm. You MUST lead by example, infringements of any safety rules or procedures will not be tolerated.

➢ Ensure that all safety documentation is fully understood and where applicable signed by the required signatory.

Quality:

➢ Ensure you fully understand the Client's requirements for the scaffold and accurately instruct your team as to what is required before the work starts. This instruction must include the method statement, risk assessment, and applicable COSHH assessments.

➢ Achieve the required works in a safe timely manner which meets the requirements of JMAC and work to the principle of 'Right First Time'.

➢ Ensure that all paperwork required is understood and completed accurately and on time.

➢ Ensure handovers and off hires are completed daily. Commercial / Productivity:

➢ Assist in the preparation of quotations.

➢ Ensure that all manhours allocated to a task are monitored and payroll reflects hours worked.

➢ Provide information to the commercial team to create weekly financial reports.

➢ Ensure the required materials and personnel and secondary resources are adequate for the task and are available in a safe timely manner which minimises any lost time.

➢ Monitor and record the details of works done as required by your site management. Assess the levels of productivity achieved and liaise with your site manager to discuss and suggest any improvements that may be possible.

General:

➢ Monitor your personnel in respect of safety procedures, quality of works, productivity and timekeeping. Enforce discipline in regard of these points where the standards or your personnel fall below that required by JMAC. This will be of particular importance during the trial period of new personnel. Report all such findings on assessment documentation as required. Serious shortcomings should be reported to your manager immediately.

➢ Be involved in assessments of personnel under, or previously under, your supervision. Give honest and unbiased information as required in order to complete these assessments.

➢ You will be expected to work the hours as directed by your site management in order to most effectively supervise particular site's. This may include starting earlier and/or finishing later than the site operatives

The candidate will have over 8 years' experience within the scaffolding industry and served as a chargehand / foreman or supervisor for a minimum of 2 years. Qualifications: CISRS Advanced card Scaffold Supervisory qualification: SSSTS or SMSTS

You may be required to work such additional hours in excess of your normal hours of work are reasonably necessary for the proper performance of your duties and to meet the needs of the company's business.
