Dental Nurse Apprentice

Main duties of the job

You will be providing support within Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and will carry out the normal dental nurse role and duties supervised by qualified dental nurses and tutors. Duties within this role include providing close chairside assistance, testing equipment and machinery, receiving and preparing patients and undertaking safely and effectively decontamination, disinfection and sterilisation of instruments and equipment ready for use.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with strong organisational skills and have a desire to deliver excellent patient care within their role.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 18 months due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.

The apprentice allowance as specified in the Minimum Wage Regulations will be paid for the first 12 months. The rate will increase after 12 months in line with these regulations for anyone that is age 19 or over.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* 4 GCSEs grade 4 or above to include English and Maths or equivalent
* A science-based subject is desirable


Experience

* Experience of working in a care setting or equivalent.
* Experience of working within a customer service role or equivalent.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrate a flexible approach to meet the working practises of the department
* Commitment to study and individual progress and development
* Ability to use initiativeProfessional approach
* To have confidence to work in a public facing role providing patient care
* Evidence of possessing good practice skills


Other Factors

* To undertake relevant training and development
* To be prepared to travel to all CCDH, Community and practice sites
* Hepatitis B vaccinations
