Willows Birds of Prey & Wildlife Trail is a well established visitor centre, in the heart of the Kent Countryside. Their magnificent naturalistic setting offers a bird of prey experience like no other. They have various species of birds of prey on view, from owls to eagles with lots of fantastic opportunities. We are seeking two motivated Animal Care apprentices to join our team. This level position is perfect for someone looking to start their career in animal care. The successful candidate will gain hands‑on experience in both farm animals and birds of prey.

Willows Bird of Prey Centre and Wildlife Trail is offering an exciting apprenticeship for two dedicated individuals to gain practical, hands‑on experience in the care of birds of prey and farm animals within a professional and supportive setting.
This apprenticeship is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in animal care, wildlife management, or falconry. You will receive full training in the specialist handling and care of birds of prey, while also gaining valuable skills in farm animal management.
Key Responsibilities
* Birds of Prey Care:
o Assisting with the daily cleaning and maintenance of aviaries and equipment.
o Preparing and portioning raw food to meet specific dietary needs.
o Supporting bird handling and flying sessions under the guidance of experienced falconers.
* Farm & Animal Care:
o Cleaning and maintaining enclosures for farm animals.
o Feeding and watering animals to ensure their health and well‑being.
o Helping with general farm maintenance, including fencing and equipment upkeep.
* Visitor Interaction:
o Learning to engage with visitors during educational talks and demonstrations.
o Supporting the team with public handling events and farm tours.

Desired Skills & Qualities

Desired Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent, Grade C/4 or above in maths and English preferred but not essential.
* Applicants should not already hold a Level 2 or higher in Animal Care or similar.

Training
Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on‑site visits throughout the apprenticeship. The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
