Role Overview:
This position plays a crucial role in leading Pinterest's efforts to detect, assess, and address scaled abuse both on our platform and in external digital environments like social media and forums. The successful candidate will be key in maintaining Pinterest's commitment to Pinner safety and platform integrity. Responsibilities include designing intelligence operations, deriving insights from external data, and collaborating across teams to develop Trust & Safety strategies to prevent abuse.
What You'll Do:
* Lead strategies for gathering intelligence from external vendors on cybercrime activities such as phishing, malware, drug trafficking, and financial scams.
* Monitor off-platform activities on surface and dark web threats targeting Pinterest and its users.
* Enhance internal intelligence resources for timely threat detection and reporting aligned with anti-abuse initiatives.
* Analyze abuse patterns externally to produce insights guiding team focus and resource allocation.
* Collaborate with Legal, Operations, Product, and Policy teams to integrate external threat intelligence into safety mechanisms.
* Create scalable processes, contribute to tool development, and build resources to optimize external intelligence use.
* Monitor metrics, expand coverage of off-platform abuse, and deliver actionable reports to measure success in threat mitigation.
* Research emerging trends, tools, and techniques to improve monitoring capabilities.
* Foster innovation and cooperation, building strong relationships with external partners and internal teams.
* Develop strategic partnerships with industry peers to enhance understanding of global internet abuse.
* Generate detailed analyses and summaries of abuse trends, providing valuable insights and clear actions.
* Maintain professionalism and security protocols when handling sensitive investigations.
Basic Qualifications:
* Degree in cybersecurity, intelligence, or related field, or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years in cybercrime investigations or threat intelligence, including internal and off-platform investigations and OSINT.
* Proficiency in SQL.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating to executives.
* Extensive knowledge of monitoring technologies for surface and dark web, emphasizing operational security and digital evidence collection.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Expertise in OSINT methods, attribution, and intelligence reporting.
* Technical skills in tools like Python and link analysis software.
* Understanding of threat actor communication and behavioral patterns.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, and Trust & Safety.
* History of fostering innovation and collaborating across regions and time zones.

In-office requirements include in-person collaboration 1-2 times per quarter, with the role being location-flexible within the country.
Salary range: $120,082 — $247,228 USD, based on experience, location, and skills. The position is eligible for equity.
