Role Overview
We are supplying a senior Cloud Solutions / Cloud Architect to lead the design and assurance of a large-scale data centre exit and cloud migration programme for an end client operating within wealth management, asset management, or life & pensions.
The successful candidate must have prior experience delivering cloud and migration programmes within one or more of these regulated financial services domains.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead data centre exit strategy, including application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration planning
* Define target-state cloud architectures (IaaS / PaaS / hybrid where required)
* Assess cloud readiness:
o Landing zones
o Network connectivity
o Identity & access management
o Security controls
o Monitoring and logging
o Backup, DR, and resilience
* Decide and document migration approaches (re-host, re-platform, re-factor, retire)
* Ensure compliance with financial services regulations (security, data residency, resilience)
* Produce and own:
o High-level and low-level designs
o Migration roadmaps
o Architecture decision records
* Work closely with cloud engineers to ensure designs are buildable and aligned
* Act as the technical interface between:
o End client
o Hosting/cloud providers
o Internal delivery teams
* Support transition into BAU operations post-migration
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience delivering data centre exits and large-scale cloud migrations
* Strong hands-on architecture experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP
* Deep understanding of:
o Networking (VPC/VNet, firewalls, VPNs, private connectivity)
o Identity & access (IAM, RBAC, federated identity)
o Security architecture and controls
o High availability, resilience, and DR
* Experience working in regulated financial services environments
* Strong stakeholder management and documentation skills
* Comfortable operating in an SOW / outcome-based delivery model
Desirable
* Experience with complex legacy estates
* Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD patterns
* Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation and FinOps principles
