Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: 29-31 Montgomery Street, Belfast
Campaign Service/Cause: Volunteering
Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and coordination across the organization. The role includes ensuring adherence to data management strategies, facilitating volunteer recruitment, induction, and support, and contributing to service development and quality assurance, working closely with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Co-ordination
2. Refining volunteer recruitment processes to meet organizational needs.
3. Overseeing the volunteer database and maintaining an inventory of volunteer needs.
4. Processing Access NI checks on relevant volunteers.
5. Ensuring role descriptions, induction, training, and evaluation are up-to-date.
6. Organizing and delivering training as necessary.
7. Developing new volunteer initiatives and promoting the organization’s work.
8. Building relationships with other agencies to raise awareness and promote volunteering.
9. Implementing activities to promote volunteer retention and recognition.
10. Maintaining communication with volunteers and monitoring activities and impact.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Developing and supporting effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes, including capturing volunteer experiences and assessing outcomes.
Quality Assurance and Development
Supporting policy reviews, ensuring adherence to legislation, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Data and Information Management
Following reporting mechanisms, analyzing statistics, and ensuring GDPR compliance.
External Relationships
Building stakeholder relationships and representing Cancer Focus NI externally.
General
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, promoting services, and performing other duties as required.
Person Specification
Experience in delivering training, organizing events, managing people or volunteers. Qualifications include relevant work experience and GCSEs in English and Math. Skills include excellent communication, self-management, organizational, negotiation, IT proficiency, teamwork, and independence. Personal qualities include adaptability, empathy, and commitment to the organization’s values. A full driving license and access to transport are required. Desirable criteria include experience in health and social care, community engagement, developing training, and relevant qualifications.
