Assistant Accountant – Schools Finance

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant within Schools Finance.
The role involves providing strategic financial guidance and support to schools on all aspects of their budget, together with operational support to maintain their accounts.
What I will be doing
* Assist the Finance Team Manager in preparing and monitoring financial information, including annual budgets, final accounts, grant claims, monthly monitoring and periodic returns.
* Provide financial and systems advice, training and support to colleagues and clients.
* Support the Team Manager in achieving individual and team objectives and performance indicators.
* Help prepare and complete financial information to comply with relevant legislation and the Council’s Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
* Deliver financial information on business issues arising from budget monitoring to ensure value for money service provision.
* Offer advice, training and support to colleagues on financial systems, policies and procedures to resolve problems and meet service objectives.
* Provide financial expertise in projects to ensure they are financially robust and all implications identified.
* Support the overall Year End Accounts processing.
What I need to have
* Sound knowledge of school/academy financial policies, procedures, budgeting, monitoring and support to settings.
* Working knowledge of spreadsheets.
* AAT qualification or equivalent relevant skills and experience.
* Excellent time management and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
