About the Role
Band 5 or 6 Research Nurse
Diabetes – 21.6 hours (0.6 WTE). Fixed‑term contract for 1 year (may be extended with future funding).
We are looking to recruit a nurse to an exciting and challenging research post that will be based within the department of diabetes clinical trials. The post is suitable for general nurses with a special interest in advancing diabetic research or for experienced research nurses wishing to develop in another field. The role will allow the successful candidate to develop the skills required to deliver exceptional clinical and research care to participants/patients involved in research studies.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the delivery of direct and indirect care of those participating in research, including recruitment and monitoring of study patients and collection of accurate, confidential data.
* Depend on the type of project and input from the Principal Investigator and/or Senior Research Nurse and support their responsibilities accordingly.
* Manage a caseload of patients/volunteers, ensuring flexible yet organised care.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Flexible yet organised approach.
* Keen to learn and able to manage a caseload of patients/volunteers.
Additional Information
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
If this post operates within Aberdeen City Low Emission Zone, the successful candidate will be responsible for all costs associated with entering.
