We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Senior Residential Care Worker to join a three-bedded Ofsted-registered children’s residential home for young people aged 10–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and mild learning disabilities (LD).
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes while also developing your leadership skills. With a clear career pathway, there is scope to progress into a Deputy Manager position, subject to performance.
✨ About the Role
As a Senior Residential Care Worker, you will:
* Lead and supervise shifts, ensuring safety, consistency, and high-quality care.
* Provide direct support to children, helping them develop independence, resilience, and positive life skills.
* Implement, review, and update individualised care plans.
* Support, mentor, and guide Residential Care Workers to maintain professional practice.
* Uphold safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Encourage education, hobbies, and community engagement for young people.
* Contribute to Ofsted inspections and ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
* Maintain accurate records, reports, and incident documentation.
* Build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
✅ What We’re Looking For
* Experience leading shifts/key-working in a children’s home.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards).
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed practice.
* Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Flexibility to work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Compassionate, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for young people.
Desirable:
* Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
* Strong IT and record-keeping skills.
* Creativity and emotional intelligence in supporting young people with complex needs.
