Job Advert Join Our Facilities Team – Assistant Cook Are you enthusiastic about food, teamwork, and helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Assistant Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting the delivery of high-quality school meals across Falkirk Council. In this key role, you’ll assist the Cook in Charge with food preparation, service, and kitchen operations – helping provide safe, nutritious, and appealing meals that support pupils’ health and wellbeing. What You’ll Do: Support the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals Assist with stock control, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness Comply with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations Contribute to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised kitchen environment Provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff What We’re Looking For: A positive, flexible attitude and strong team ethic Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene is desirable Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential – full training provided Confidence in using kitchen equipment and following food safety procedures Ability to work under pressure and manage tasks in a busy school environment The Role: Location: Braes High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break) Graeme High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break) Larbert High School 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break) Boness Academy 7.30am to 2pm (30-minute unpaid break) Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only Days: Monday to Friday Contract: Permanent Reporting to: Cook in Charge Why Work with Us?
