Overview:
Jack & VMA GROUP are representing an exceptional and fast-growing client in the premium beer and beverage sector. This business boasts an impressive and diverse portfolio, a strong market presence, and ambitious growth plans. They are seeking a commercially astute Chief Operating Officer to oversee daily operations from their Central London HQ, focusing on their flagship premium beer brand.
This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role suited for a proven operator in the UK beer or alcohol industry. The COO will manage supply chain, sales operations, route-to-market strategy, key account growth, and commercial performance. They will collaborate closely with the CEO to achieve strategic goals, build high-performing teams, and implement scalable systems and processes to enhance national availability, visibility, and profitability.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead operational functions including supply chain, logistics, customer operations, and sales to ensure nationwide service excellence.
* Partner with sales leadership to execute commercial plans, promotional calendars, pricing strategies, and margin optimization.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with major multiples, symbol groups, wholesalers, and pub groups.
* Oversee S&OP, demand planning, and inventory management for accuracy and efficiency.
* Manage key national accounts to ensure sustainable growth and exceptional service.
* Recruit, coach, and motivate teams with clear KPIs and accountability.
* Implement ERP, CRM, and BI tools for data-driven decision-making.
* Ensure compliance with UK alcohol regulations, duty, customs processes, and health and safety standards.
* Negotiate with suppliers, logistics partners, co-packers, and agencies to improve costs and service levels.
* Manage P&L, aiming for revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA targets set by the board.
About you:
* 10+ years’ leadership experience in the UK beer industry, with exposure to On-Trade and Off-Trade sectors – highly desirable – alcohol industry experience is considered.
* Proven success in securing and expanding national listings.
* Strong commercial skills in pricing, margin management, and working capital control.
* Experience with S&OP, ERP, CRM, and BI systems.
* Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities.
* UK driving license and willingness to travel nationwide.
