GSL Education are delighted to offer afull-time opportunityfor a proactive and nurturingLearning Support Assistant (LSA)to join a vibrantmainstream secondary school in Southampton.

As aLearning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across various subjects and year groups, with a particular focus on learners who require additional academic or emotional guidance. This is a vital role that helps build pupils’ confidence, fosters independence, and ensures every student receives the support they need to succeed in a mainstream classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide tailored support to individual students and small groups to ensure equal access to the curriculum.
* Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt lesson materials and learning strategies to suit pupils’ needs.
* Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop essential social and organisational skills.
* Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate support records.
* Support students with varying needs, including those with mild learning difficulties, EAL (English as an Additional Language), or SEMH challenges.
* Act as a mentor and role model for students, promoting confidence and resilience.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and always ensure student welfare.

Job Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant:

* Students who are seeking to gain experience in education setting are encouraged to apply.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong rapport.
* Flexible, patient, and enthusiastic approach to supporting learning and wellbeing.
* Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.
* A degree, or current enrolment in university-level study (especially in Education, Psychology, or related fields), is welcome.
* Strong commitment to inclusion and helping all students achieve their best.
* Have anupdated CV(covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and anenhanced DBSregistered to theupdate service(or be willing to apply for one).
