This role involves working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary design team, undertaking the intelligent customer role on behalf of the HPC project.

As the technical lead, you will review and accept design changes proposed by site contractors, ensuring they are justified by the designer. You will manage interfaces between construction contractors and designers, working closely with NNB’s Delivery Directorate and the Construction Team on site. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic working environment.

Alongside a salary of £54,280 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will understand the design and operational aspects of the plant’s systems and their role within the nuclear and environmental safety cases. You will provide oversight to ensure Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met, and offer input and approval for non-conformances and design changes during construction.

You will work independently to meet internal customer needs, maintaining strong relationships with EDF Engineering (Responsible Designer) and regulatory bodies. Additionally, you will coordinate support from external organisations and interface with the Regulator to support the proposed electrical system design.

Who You Are

You hold a degree or higher in a relevant discipline and are a registered member of a professional institute or have qualifications and experience suitable for membership. You have experience in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, aircraft, or petrochemical industries, and in the design and maintenance of heavy mechanical power generation equipment.

Your background includes developing mechanical-related safety cases and liaising with regulatory bodies like the HSE Nuclear Directorate. You possess excellent organisational skills, an understanding of Quality Assurance in regulated environments, and decision-making capabilities for resolving safety case issues. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders are essential. The ability to speak French is desirable but not essential.
