Job Purpose
As Head of Care, you will play a vital leadership role in ensuring that our residents receive the highest standards of care, compassion, and respect. Working closely with the Home Manager, you will provide guidance, mentorship, and support to our care and nursing teams, inspiring excellence in every aspect of daily life at Hendra Court. You will act as a visible and approachable leader, ensuring our residents live with dignity, purpose, and joy, while our team feels valued, supported, and empowered to deliver their very best.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead and support the care team to deliver safe, person‑centred care that enhances residents' wellbeing and independence.
 * Oversee care planning and ensure accurate documentation within Nourish, maintaining compliance with CQC standards.
 * Conduct pre‑admission assessments and coordinate smooth admissions for new residents.
 * Manage and monitor medication processes, ensuring safe and effective practice in line with Camascope EMAR.
 * Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to support residents' health and happiness.
 * Undertake audits, observations, and competency checks, identifying opportunities for learning and improvement.
 * Take charge of the home on the absence of Home Manager, ensuring the home operates smoothly and in full regulatory compliance.
 * Support the home manager with staff allocations, rotas, recruitment, supervisions and appraisals, and ongoing development to foster a skilled, motivated, and compassionate team.
 * Uphold safeguarding and safety standards, ensuring residents are always protected and respected.
Essential Requirements
 * Minimum Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Level 5 Leadership & Management desirable or willingness to undergo)
 * At least 4 years' experience in the care sector, including time in a senior or deputy role.
 * To undergo further training and development to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills to support residents' needs and career development.
 * Strong leadership and people management skills.
 * Excellent understanding of CQC standards and regulatory compliance.
 * Confident in care planning, auditing, and medication management.
 * Good communication skills, with the ability to build trust with residents, families, and professionals.
 * Full clean UK driving license (business insurance desirable).
