This exciting new role will contribute to the delivery of the Bedfordshire Hospitals Stop Smoking Service objectives and the wider objectives of the Organisation providing high-quality, expert stop smoking intervention treatment to inpatients, outpatients, and staff. 1. To work with within the Trust Tobacco Team as a Tobacco Dependency Advisor, to provide behavioural support and treatment in relation to tobacco smoking to patients in the Trust.
2. To support the day to day running of the onsite tobacco treatment service to ensure safe, well organized and evidenced based care is offered routinely to all identified smokers in the Trust. Provide support in a range of settings as required for the delivery of smoking cessation service.
To support the delivery of the service key performance and reporting indicators for tobacco dependency.
Main duties of the job
3. Organise own workload and work unsupervised in a busy team. Maintain a high standard of work and prioritise own workload according to the needs of the service, individual needs including equality, diversity and social inclusion in all aspects of work.
4. Manage day to day referrals, into the team and work with patients to identify the most appropriate tobacco dependency treatment pathway.
5. Support individuals to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing and support them in initiating and sustaining appropriate behavioural changes to improve their health.
6. Record and report activities and results.
7. Work in partnership with local services and community pharmacies to offer continuation support to all patients.
8. Develop and sustain tobacco dependency support and referrals into the service.
9. Traveling might be required across sites, occasionally for meetings, trainings and team cover whenever necessary.
