The trust security team is an integral part of the trust services working 24/7/365.
As a Security Supervisor, you will act as the first point of contact for security-related issues, manage security guard staff, oversee alarm reactions, provide incident reports, and maintain high standards of security operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as point of contact for security incidents and basic cyber security awareness, reporting suspicious activity.
* Manage roster and rotate team through all aspects of the role.
* Operate the security control room, monitor alarms (intruder, fire, medical gas, etc.) and investigate and report any alerts.
* Act as first point of contact for police enquiries and ambulance, fire, and other emergency services.
* Escort staff, patients, cash and valuable items; support missing patient search.
* Maintain and monitor CCTV and body‑worn camera evidence, ensuring chain of evidence and GDPR compliance.
* Prepare incident reports, self‑audits, and sign in logbooks; produce written reports for committees and meetings.
* Conduct foot patrols, irregular patrols, and search operations; keep the facility secure outside office hours.
* Support portering activities, including transport of patients, mail, specimens and bodies when required.
* Supervise staff on a day‑to‑day basis, providing training, counselling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
* Coordinate switchboard cover and ensure competent use of radio and emergency bleep systems.
* Provide first‑line fault reporting and maintenance for security infrastructure (CCTV, alarms, access control).
* Estimate and allocate staff resources, prioritise work and respond to requests via email.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in General Management/Supervisory or equivalent formal training or experience.
Experience and Skills
* Management/supervisory experience in customer‑led service.
* Experience in customer service working with the public.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* Skill in producing written reports from electronically recorded data.
* Introduction of management processes and systems of controls.
* Scheduling and planning own workload.
* Basic understanding of cyber security principles.
* Experience dealing with digital evidence (CCTV footage).
* Strong communication and persuasive skills.
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Commitment and self‑motivation.
* Experience in a hospital environment and facility functions.
* Capacity to focus for extended periods with unpredictable work patterns.
* Ability to analyse, interpret and benchmark data.
* Good interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
* Computer literate – spreadsheets and general office software.
Knowledge
* Awareness of current legislation, guidelines and trust policies including health and safety, control & restraint training, CCTV legislation, safe working methods, and GDPR.
* Knowledge of hospital functionality and trust complaint process.

Salary
£28,392 to £31,157 per annum (pro rata).
