Responsibilities
* Be involved in the planning and implementation of water resource projects, ensuring they adhere to scope, budget, timescale, quality and regulatory requirements.
* Bring experience in technical areas such as development of WRMPs, Regional Water Resource plans, Drought Plans, water resource models, demand management, option development, optimisation, regulatory environmental assessment (HRA, SEA, WFD, etc.), and/or development of SROs through the RAPID-led gated process.
* Have client-facing experience within the water industry and build internal and external networks to achieve positive project outcomes.
* Manage commercial aspects of projects, including bids and proposals within budget.
* Support the wider Water and Environment department when required and work flexibly on a variety of projects.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience in water resources focused projects undertaking: assessment and development of WRMPs, drought plans and regional plans; development of supply-demand balance components; hydrological/hydrogeological/water resources assessment; demand forecasting; options appraisal; risk and uncertainty analysis.
* Experience in WINEP investigations, Environmental Destination, Water Framework Directive assessments, permitting and abstraction licensing, catchment management, and climate change impact assessments.
* Between 5 to 10 years' experience in the water industry.
* A degree in a relevant subject (e.g., geography, geological sciences, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering); preferably a postgraduate degree in hydrology, hydrogeology or water resources management.
* Active involvement with relevant institutions such as CIWEM, ICE or the Institute of Water; chartered or working towards chartership.
About You
We welcome people from varied backgrounds (regulatory, water company or consultancy) who have recent experience applying their knowledge of water resources in policy and technical areas. You should be comfortable working in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams, closely with clients, statutory authorities, and other stakeholders. Previous involvement in the assessment and development of WRMPs, regional plans, SROs and/or Drought Plans is desirable.
