HR & Payroll Advisor - Temporary Position - Enhanced DBS (Mandatory)

Location: Pershore
Hours: 30-37 hours per week
Salary: £ 16.17 an hour
Contract Type: Temporary
DBS Required: Enhanced

About the Role

Our client is seeking for an experienced HR & Payroll Advisor to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to provide essential HR transactional, advisory, and payroll support across multiple schools.

You'll work closely with school leaders, managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit, while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in collaboration with an external payroll provider.

Key Responsibilities

HR Advisory & Recruitment:

1. Support end-to-end recruitment processes including drafting adverts, shortlisting, and contract management
2. Ensure completion of all pre-employment checks (DBS, references, right-to-work)
3. Provide front-line HR advice on policies, procedures, and employment legislation
4. Manage low-level HR casework including absence management and employee relations

Payroll & Compliance:

5. Process starters, leavers, contract changes, and expenses to meet payroll deadlines
6. Calculate and administer statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
7. Manage pension scheme administration and auto-enrolment compliance
8. Resolve payroll queries and ensure accuracy of deductions

Administration:

9. Maintain accurate personnel records on HR systems
10. Support School Workforce Census submissions
11. Produce HR management reports and data analysis

What We're Looking For

Essential:

12. Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and best practice
13. Experience managing diverse HR casework
14. Proficiency in HR/payroll software, Excel, and MIS systems
15. High attention to detail with ability to meet strict deadlines
16. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
17. Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Desirable:

18. CIPD Level 3 or above (or working towards)
19. Understanding of teachers' and support staff terms & conditions
20. Experience with restructure, redundancy, or TUPE processes
21. Mental Health First Aid qualification
