An early-stage robotics and AI startup is seeking an entrepreneurial Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Co-Founder to lead the development of cutting-edge AI solutions for robotic systems, making it easy for companies to apply physical AI to robotics. In this role, you will define and execute the technology roadmap, driving innovation at the intersection of generative AI and robotics. The ideal candidate is a passionate, hands-on leader with deep expertise in software engineering and AI (especially in robotics). They excel at translating a shared product vision into actionable technical requirements and can guide the company through early challenges and rapid growth.Location: Boston, MA - Hybrid OnsiteKey ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership Design and oversee the development of scalable AI infrastructure for robotics applications.Build, mentor, and scale a technical teamLead product development and drive innovation from prototypes to production in the application of physical AI to roboticsLead and manage a team of contractors, growing the technical team as the company scales.Foster a collaborative, startup-oriented culture to achieve technical milestones.Represent the company in investor and strategic conversationsProvide technical insights and demonstrate a clear vision for the product roadmap and market applications.Inform and refine product-market fit through customer and field engagementCollaborate with co-founder to ensure alignment with strategic goals.Work hands-on with early customers on pilot deployments and feedback loopsStay current on advances in robot foundation models (RFMs), Imitation Learning (IL), and Vision Language Action (VLA) AI models.QualificationsStrong background in software engineering, AI development, and infrastructure designAdvanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in AI-focused software engineeringDeep knowledge of AI for robotics, including foundation models and generative AIIndustry experience with robotics, manipulation, and/or automation systems preferredDemonstrated ability to lead teams ideally in early-stage, high growth environmentsStrong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical audiencesGrit, passion, and conviction to navigate challenges and drive long-term successDon't meet all of the requirements?
