Civil Project Supervisor – Contract
Location: Peterhead, Scotland (site‑based, 5 days per week)
Contract length: 12 months
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: £750 – 785 per day via Umbrella
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Project Supervisor to support the delivery of a major infrastructure programme at a large, complex site in Peterhead. This role is focused on on‑site supervision, coordination and assurance, working closely with Project Managers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, to specification, on time and to the required quality standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing civil works activities, managing interfaces between multiple parties, and proactively identifying and resolving risks or issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
Programme & Coordination
* Monitor and review programme progress on a regular basis
* Identify, flag and help resolve risks, issues or bottlenecks impacting delivery
* Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, client teams and other stakeholders
* Support interface management between all parties to ensure smooth project delivery
Drawings, Specifications & Compliance
* Review drawings and technical specifications
* Check, report and help resolve any discrepancies or issues
* Monitor on‑site compliance, ensuring correct and current revisions are being used
* Discuss and understand design changes in line with relevant specifications and procedures
* Liaise with contractors regarding changes and technical queries
* Support the production and verification of as‑built documentation
Quality Assurance
* Carry out on‑site quality checks in line with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
* Sign Inspection and Test Certificates (ITCs) where required
* Raise and track quality issues, defects and snags to closure
Health, Safety & Temporary Works
* Monitor on‑site safety and RAMS compliance
* Carry out regular site walkovers and sensible, proportionate monitoring
* Review and monitor temporary works on site, escalating concerns where necessary
Contract & Site Administration
* Maintain a detailed and accurate site diary
* Understand contract documentation, works information and key milestones
* Support Project Managers and wider teams with site‑based information and issue resolution
* Attend site and project meetings as required
Required Experience & Skills
* Proven experience in a Civil Project Supervisor / Site Supervisor / Clerk of Works type role
* Strong understanding of civil construction activities on large, complex sites
* Experience working with contractors and subcontractors in a regulated environment
* Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
* Good understanding of quality, safety and temporary works controls
* Proactive, solution‑focused approach with strong communication skills
* Positive, collaborative and flexible working attitude
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience on electrical substations, power stations or HVDC converter stations
* Experience working within large infrastructure or energy programmes
