The Opportunity

Walsall is a town with a proud industrial heart, currently undergoing significant digital regeneration within the Black Country. We are seeking a high-calibre Computing Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' secondary school. In this role, you will work within a center of academic and technical excellence, preparing students for the rapidly evolving digital economy by mastering everything from computational thinking to advanced software development.

-----------------------------------

The Department & Standard

* You will join an elite Computing faculty where "Outstanding" is the benchmark, and student attainment in Computer Science consistently ranks in the top percentiles nationally.

* The department operates in state-of-the-art digital suites featuring high-spec hardware, dedicated servers for networking projects, and a range of physical computing equipment including Raspberry Pi and Arduino kits.

* As an "Outstanding" setting, the department leads the way in research-led practice, utilizing the latest pedagogical approaches to help students bridge the gap between "block-based" and "text-based" programming.

* We maintain strong partnerships with West Midlands tech hubs and local universities, ensuring the curriculum remains aligned with industry standards and emerging technologies like AI and Cybersecurity.

-----------------------------------

Core Responsibilities

1. Exemplary Instruction: Delivering high-challenge lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), ensuring students develop a deep understanding of computer systems, algorithms, and data representation.

2. Programming Mastery: Leading students in the mastery of high-level languages (primarily Python), fostering a culture where students can debug complex logic and write efficient, clean code.

3. Curriculum Innovation: Contributing to a "future-proof" curriculum that incorporates contemporary themes such as cyber-ethics, cloud computing, and the environmental impact of technology.

4. Data-Driven Success: Utilizing the school’s robust assessment framework to provide pinpoint feedback, ensuring students in all cohorts make exceptional progress toward their target grades.

5. STEM Integration: Coordinating cross-curricular projects with the Maths and Science departments, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of computational logic and problem-solving.

-----------------------------------

The Successful Candidate We are looking for an ambitious educator with a relentless drive for technical excellence and a passion for digital innovation. Requirements include:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.

* Proven Track Record: Evidence of delivering high-quality outcomes in a secondary setting, with a deep understanding of the GCSE Computer Science assessment objectives.

* Technical Authority: Proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python/C++/Java) and a firm grasp of network architecture and database management.

* Visionary Thinking: The ability to inspire students with the potential of technology to solve global problems, from data security to sustainable engineering.

-----------------------------------

Why Join Us?

* The chance to work in an "Outstanding" environment where student behaviour is exemplary and the digital facilities are among the best in the region.

* Unrivalled professional development pathways, including opportunities for middle leadership and specialized training in cybersecurity or data science.

* The opportunity to work in Walsall—a town offering a blend of industrial heritage, affordable living, and excellent transport links across the West Midlands.

* A prestigious professional community that values hard work, creativity, and the pursuit of technical excellence.
